Quality 1st Restoration home

Storm Damage Restoration in Henderson, NV

After a storm, we close up the house first: tarp the roof, board up a broken window or door. Then we pull out the water that got in and dry the house before it turns into mold. A roofer or window installer makes the permanent fix. We keep the weather out until they get there and handle the inside.

In the Las Vegas Valley, that's usually a summer monsoon. Wind lifts roof tiles or breaks a window. Hard rain pushes in under patio doors, and it often carries mud and debris with it. The storm can be over in an hour. The water in the attic insulation and the walls stays a lot longer.

When the monsoon gets inside

What people ask us while the rain is still coming down.

Water is still coming through the ceiling. What do I do?

Stay out from under any ceiling that's sagging or bulging. Put buckets under the drips, then move furniture and electronics out of the way. Don't climb onto a wet roof in the wind to look. Call us and we'll get the opening covered.

Can you cover the roof and the broken window?

Yes. Tarping damaged roof sections and boarding up broken windows or doors is usually the first thing we do on a storm call. The inside can't dry while weather is still getting in. Our roof tarping and board-up pages explain that part.

Should I wait for the adjuster before covering anything?

Usually not. Most policies expect you to take reasonable steps to stop more damage. Take photos of the roof, the window and the rooms first, then get it covered. Your carrier decides what the policy pays. We keep the photos and the tarping record together for them.

Is monsoon water dirty?

Rain that drips straight through a roof opening is usually cleaner than water that ran across the yard and under a patio door. Water that came in at ground level picks up soil, fertilizer and whatever else was out there, so we treat it as Category 3 and clean and disinfect before drying.

What about the mud and debris that blew in?

Broken glass, gravel, leaves and mud inside the house come out as part of the cleanup, before extraction and drying. The yard, fallen trees and anything outside the walls belong to a landscaper or tree service.

Who fixes the roof?

A licensed roofer. A window or door company replaces the glass or the door. Our job is to keep the weather out until they get there, then dry and repair the inside of the house.

How much does it cost? Will insurance pay?

Water mitigation in the Las Vegas Valley usually costs $1,500 to $4,800. That covers getting the water out, drying the structure and checking it with moisture meters until the readings are back to normal. If drywall, baseboards or flooring had to come out, the repairs are a separate estimate, so you see each part on its own.

A storm job has two parts. The emergency cover is priced by the size of the roof or window opening. The inside depends on how long water came in and where it ended up. A wet attic and ceiling costs more to open and dry than a puddle inside a patio door.

Insurance or self-pay, you decide

Insurance usually pays when the water came on suddenly, like a supply line that split overnight. A leak that dripped for months usually isn't covered. Your carrier makes that call, not us.

We handle the record: photos, moisture readings and a line-item estimate built in Xactimate, the same software most adjusters use. Then you compare it with your deductible and decide whether to file.

Photograph the damage before it's covered, and keep receipts for any emergency supplies you bought. Your carrier will want to see both.

Paying yourself? Ask about the self-pay discount. The estimate is free, and you see the price before we start.

How we handle storm damage

  1. 1

    Cover the openings

We tarp the damaged part of the roof and board up broken windows or doors so the next storm doesn't add to the damage.

  2. 2

    Photograph before cleanup

Outside damage, inside damage and the debris, all photographed before anything is moved. Storm claims lean hard on those first photos.

  3. 3

Clear debris and pull out water

Glass, mud and blown-in debris come out first. Then we extract standing water from floors and carpet.

  4. 4

    Open the wet ceiling

Roof leaks soak attic insulation and the drywall below it. We take readings and seal the room off with plastic, then remove the wet insulation and the sections of ceiling that can't dry in place.

  5. 5

    Dry the structure

Dehumidifiers and air movers run until the ceiling and walls read dry, and the floors too. That usually takes three to five days.

  6. 6

    Rebuild after the roofer

Once the permanent roof or window repair is done, we put the ceiling, walls and flooring back and paint to match.

Water extraction after storm-driven flooding in a Henderson home

Tarp the roof. Board the openings. Then start the cleanup inside.

Until the house is sealed, every storm that comes through adds to the damage you already have. In monsoon season, another one can roll in before the roofer has an opening.

So the tarp and the plywood go up first. When it's safe, extraction and drying start inside on the same visit.

Before cleanup begins, follow official reentry and electrical precautions in Ready.gov's post-flood safety guidance .

What's included

We cover it, clean it out and put the inside back. The permanent outside repairs belong to other trades.

What we do

  • Emergency roof tarping
  • Board-up of broken windows and doors
  • Removing glass, mud and blown-in debris from inside
  • Water extraction and removal of wet insulation and ceiling drywall
  • Dehumidifiers and air movers until the readings say dry
  • Photos and a line-item estimate for your insurance carrier
  • Rebuilding ceilings, walls and flooring inside the house

What we don't do

  • Permanent roof repair. That's a licensed roofer.
  • Replacing window glass or doors. That's a window or door installer.
  • Tree removal and yard cleanup.
  • Electrical repairs if water reached wiring or fixtures.

More on the emergency side: board-up services and roof tarping. If the storm's over and the water is what's left, our flood cleanup page covers the first day.

Storm damage questions

What does storm damage restoration include?

Emergency tarping and board-up, removing debris and water from inside, drying the structure and rebuilding damaged ceilings, walls and floors. The permanent roof and window repairs go to a roofer and a window company.

How much does storm damage restoration cost?

Drying out the water damage usually runs $1,500 to $4,800 around Las Vegas. Tarping and board-up are priced by the size of the opening. If the ceiling, insulation or flooring has to be replaced, the rebuild often comes to about twice the dry-out. We write a free estimate on site.

Does homeowners insurance cover monsoon damage?

Wind damage to the roof or windows, and the rain that came in through that opening, are often covered. Water that flowed in along the ground from outside is treated differently by many policies. Your carrier decides. We document the damage and the emergency work so they have what they need to review it.

How long can a roof tarp stay on?

Long enough to get a roofer scheduled, but it's a temporary cover. Sun and wind wear tarps down, so don't treat one as a fix. Get the permanent repair on the calendar as soon as you can.

Do you repair roofs after storm damage?

No. We tarp to stop the leak and handle everything inside the house. A licensed roofer does the permanent roof repair, and we can schedule the interior rebuild around their work.

Clear work, clean documentation, no mystery in the middle.

For Storm Damage Restoration, you should be able to see what we found and what we did about it. That's what the paperwork is for.

When we leave, you should have a plain explanation of the work and paperwork that still makes sense weeks later if an adjuster asks.

Certified standards

IICRC-certified technicians work to the published industry standards instead of judging the job by how it looks.

Claim-ready documentation

Photos and scope notes are collected as the work moves, so you and your adjuster can see what changed and why.

Measured drying

Crews meter the wet materials before and during the job and move equipment to wherever the readings are still high.

One accountable plan

The emergency work and the rebuild stay under one plan, so nothing falls into the gap between two contractors.

Local loss experience

The team works across Henderson and the Las Vegas Valley, where slab leaks, supply lines, roof leaks and AC drain lines are the usual sources.

What we tell you before work expands

What needs action now

What needs attention today and what can wait. If part of it belongs to a plumber or roofer, we say so.

What should stay closed

We don't open finished walls or ceilings until the readings and the access tell us it's worth it.

What happens next

Stabilize first. Repair decisions come after the building is under control.
