Quality 1st Restoration home

Drywall Repair & Replacement in Henderson, NV

If your drywall is stained, swollen or already cut open after a leak, we check whether it's dry, replace the pieces that can't be saved, and finish the new board so you can't tell where the old wall stops. Hang, tape, mud, texture, prime, paint.

Most Henderson and Las Vegas homes have knockdown or orange peel texture. If the patch doesn't match, it shows every time the afternoon sun hits the wall. On the garage wall, the new board has to be fire-rated.

Before you patch that wall

What people ask us when they're staring at a stain, a bulge or a hole where the wall used to be.

Can I just paint over the water stain?

Only if the board behind it is dry and solid. A stain means water got there, and the drywall may still be wet, soft or holding mold on the back side. We check it with a moisture meter first. If it's dry and firm, a stain-blocking primer and paint may be all it needs. If it's soft or swollen, that piece comes out.

Will I be able to see where the patch is?

You shouldn't. That's the whole job. Most homes around here have knockdown or orange peel texture, and each one gets sprayed and worked differently. When the match is tricky, we test the pattern and depth on a scrap first. Then we texture the wall and paint it out to the corners.

How much of the wall has to come out?

As little as possible, but enough to get past the damage. Swollen, crumbling or moldy drywall comes out to the nearest solid, dry board. On a flood cut, that's a straight line above the wet readings, which makes the new piece easier to hang and hide.

Is new drywall going to trap moisture in the wall?

Not if the framing is dry when it goes up. We take readings on the studs and bottom plate before any sheet is hung. Closing a damp wall is how a repaired wall can grow mold a few months later.

What about the wall between my garage and the house?

That wall is a fire separation. When we replace drywall there, it gets fire-rated board, not regular board.

How much does it cost? Will insurance pay?

For early planning on a water loss, the rebuild often runs about twice what the dry-out cost. A $3,000 dry-out usually means something near $6,000 in repairs. What you actually pay depends on which materials came out and what goes back in.

Drywall cost comes down to square footage and finish. A flood cut along one wall is quick. Ceilings cost more because the work is overhead. Heavy texture takes longer to match than smooth. Painting a whole room so the patch disappears adds labor, and it's usually worth it.

How we repair and replace drywall

  1. 1

    Check what's behind the stain

Moisture readings on the drywall and the framing, plus a look at the back of the board if a piece is already cut out.

  2. 2

    Cut out the bad board

Damaged drywall comes out in clean, straight cuts to the nearest stud or a level line. A clean cut makes the patch easier to hide.

  3. 3

    Hang and tape

New board goes up, with the right thickness and type for that wall. Joints get taped and mudded, and each coat dries before the next one goes on.

  4. 4

    Match the texture

Knockdown, orange peel or smooth, matched to the wall around it. We look at it in the room's actual light, not just from a foot away.

  5. 5

    Prime and paint

Primer seals the new mud so the paint doesn't flash. Then color goes corner to corner, since touching up just the patch almost always shows.

Drywall finishing during a Henderson restoration project

Knockdown, orange peel and smooth all show up in Henderson homes.

Knockdown gets sprayed on and flattened with a knife. Orange peel is sprayed finer and left alone. Use the wrong one, or the right one at the wrong thickness, and the patch sticks out from across the room.

Then the paint has to blend. Fresh paint on a patch next to paint that's been up for years never quite matches, so we paint to the corners.

What's included

The full drywall job, from checking the wall to the last coat of paint.

What we do

  • Moisture readings on the drywall and framing
  • Removing stained, swollen or moldy board
  • Hanging new drywall, with fire-rated board where the wall calls for it
  • Tape, mud and texture matched to the existing wall
  • Primer and paint to the corners
  • Photos and a line-item estimate for your claim

What we don't do

  • Fixing the leak behind the wall. That's a plumber or a roofer.
  • Electrical changes while the wall is open. That's an electrician.
  • Small cosmetic repairs with no damage behind them. A handyman is a better fit.

Stains and sagging overhead are their own category of job. Our water-damaged ceiling repair page walks through how we assess and rebuild it.

Drywall repair questions

How much does drywall repair and replacement cost after water damage?

It depends on how many walls and ceilings are involved and how much texture and paint it takes to blend them. On a water loss, the rebuild often runs about twice the dry-out. The free estimate breaks drywall, texture and paint out line by line.

Does insurance cover drywall replacement?

If the water damage behind it is covered, replacing the drywall usually is too. A slow leak that went on for months is often treated as maintenance. Your carrier decides, and we document the damage with photos and readings.

Can water-damaged drywall be saved?

Sometimes. If it got wet from clean water, dried quickly and is still firm and flat, it can stay. Drywall that's swollen, soft, crumbling at the bottom or showing mold has to come out.

Do you match knockdown and orange peel texture?

Yes. Both are common in Henderson and Las Vegas homes, along with some smooth walls. Matching the texture is what makes a patch disappear, so we take our time on it.

Do you do small drywall repairs with no water damage?

Our drywall work comes with restoration jobs: water, fire, mold or demolition. For a doorknob hole or a nail pop, a handyman is usually a better fit and cheaper.

All guides

Clear work, clean documentation, no mystery in the middle.

For Drywall Repair & Replacement, you should be able to see what we found and what we did about it. That's what the paperwork is for.

When we leave, you should have a plain explanation of the work and paperwork that still makes sense weeks later if an adjuster asks.

Certified standards

IICRC-certified technicians work to the published industry standards instead of judging the job by how it looks.

Claim-ready documentation

Photos and scope notes are collected as the work moves, so you and your adjuster can see what changed and why.

Built to match

Texture, paint and trim are matched to the rest of the room so the repair doesn't read as a patch.

One accountable plan

The emergency work and the rebuild stay under one plan, so nothing falls into the gap between two contractors.

Local loss experience

We rebuild across Henderson and the Las Vegas Valley, mostly slab-on-grade stucco homes, condos and townhomes.

What we tell you before work expands

What needs action now

What needs attention today and what can wait. If part of it belongs to a plumber or roofer, we say so.

What should stay closed

We don't open finished walls or ceilings until the readings and the access tell us it's worth it.
