The front room of this Lakes home had water stains on the ceiling right above the windows. Before opening anything, the technician scanned the ceiling with a thermal imaging moisture meter.
Wet drywall reads cooler on a thermal camera because the water in it is evaporating. That shows the crew where to open the ceiling and where to leave it alone. Every cool spot still gets confirmed with a moisture meter, because a thermal image alone doesn't prove something is wet.
