Hardwood Floor Cleaning in Henderson, NV
Hardwood floor cleaning here means getting soot, construction dust and built-up residue off your wood floors without soaking them. We take the dry soil off first, then clean with a barely damp, wood-safe method, because too much water swells boards and the wrong cleaner clouds the finish.
We clean wood floors in Henderson and Las Vegas after smoke from a fire, after a remodel or water-damage rebuild leaves fine dust everywhere, or when years of the wrong cleaner have left a haze. The dry air here helps floors dry fast, but it doesn't make standing water on wood any less harmful.

What people ask about their wood floors
These tend to come up when a floor still doesn't look right after it's been cleaned.
There's soot on my wood floors. Can I just mop it?
Please don't wet-mop soot. It's oily, and water smears it into the finish and the seams between boards, where it's much harder to remove. Soot needs to come off dry first, with a HEPA vacuum and dry soot sponges. After that, a lightly damp, wood-safe cleaner can go on.
The remodel is done and there's white dust on everything.
Drywall dust is finer than normal household dust. It settles again every time someone walks through the room. A regular dust mop mostly pushes it around. It takes HEPA vacuuming, a damp wipe that doesn't leave the boards wet, and usually a second pass the next day after the air settles.
Why does my floor look cloudy after I cleaned it?
Usually residue. Oil soaps, wax products and all-purpose cleaners leave a film on modern polyurethane finishes. Each cleaning adds another layer. We remove the buildup with a cleaner made for the finish you have, and leave the surface clean without a coating.
Is steam cleaning bad for hardwood?
Yes, for most wood floors. Steam pushes heat and moisture into the seams and under the finish. Over time that can lift the finish, gray the wood and swell the edges of the boards. Wood wants as little water as possible.
Our wood floor got wet in a leak. Is this a cleaning job?
Not at first. If the boards are cupping, or water got under them, that's a drying job with moisture readings. Cleaning comes after the floor reads dry. We handle both, but in that order.
How much does it cost? Will insurance pay?
Cleaning is priced on site by the size of the area, the material and what's on it. Soot on hardwood is a different job from dust after construction.
For wood floors, the price follows the square footage and what's on the surface. Drywall dust after a remodel is usually one careful pass plus a follow-up. Oily soot or old cleaner buildup takes more steps per section and more time on your knees.

How we clean hardwood floors
- 1
Check the finish
Polyurethane, oil, wax or engineered wood with a factory coat. The finish decides which cleaners are safe and how much moisture the floor can take.
- 2
Pull the dry soil off first
HEPA vacuuming with a soft floor head removes loose soot and dust from the surface and the seams. Grinding grit into the finish is how floors get scratched during cleaning.
- 3
Lift soot and residue
Dry soot sponges handle smoke residue. For film and grime, we use a pH-neutral wood cleaner applied to the pad, not poured onto the floor.
- 4
Keep it barely damp
We work in small sections so the floor never stays wet. Airflow in the room helps it dry quickly.
- 5
Look at it in the light
We check the floor from a low angle near a window, where streaks and haze show up, and go over anything we missed.
Wood swells when it gets wet, and it doesn't always shrink back.
Water that sits on a wood floor finds the seams. The edges of the boards soak it up and swell, and you get cupping, raised edges or dark lines between planks. Steam and wet mops also work under the finish over time. They can leave it cloudy or peeling.
That's why our cleaning uses as little water as possible. Dry methods take most of the soil off, a lightly damp pad handles the rest, and airflow dries the floor before the moisture can soak in.

Hardwood floor cleaning questions
How do you clean hardwood floors after a fire?
Dry first, then damp. We HEPA vacuum loose soot, lift the oily residue with dry soot sponges, and only then use a small amount of wood-safe cleaner. Water on soot too early smears it into the finish.
How much does hardwood floor cleaning cost?
We price it once we've seen the floor, and the estimate is free. The square footage, what's on the floor and how many passes it'll take set the price. Heavy soot or years of cleaner buildup take longer than dust after a remodel.
Will insurance pay to clean my hardwood floors after smoke damage?
If the smoke came from a covered fire, cleaning the floors is often part of the claim. Your carrier decides. We photograph the floors before and after and write down what we cleaned.
Can cleaning fix scratches or worn spots?
No. Cleaning removes what's sitting on the finish. Scratches, worn traffic lanes and gray boards need a screen and recoat or a full refinish, which is a flooring contractor's job.
What should I use to clean hardwood between visits?
Use a dry microfiber mop most days. When the floor needs more, use a lightly damp mop with a pH-neutral cleaner made for wood finishes. Skip oil soaps, vinegar, steam mops and anything that leaves the floor visibly wet.
