Wet carpeted family room dried out in north Spring Valley
We got called out for a wet family room full of stored belongings in a north Spring Valley home, with moisture along the baseboards.
Pulling the carpet and pad took the room down to the concrete slab, and the baseboards and lower drywall came off to the studs. Containment went up before any of that, in case there was mold behind the walls. The drying equipment then went along the opened wall.

The house is between Sahara Avenue and Buffalo Drive, about a mile from Desert Breeze Park and All American Park. Lake Sahara is also about a mile away, and the 215 Beltway and Summerlin Parkway are each a few miles off.
What we did
- 1 Scanned the baseboards and wall base with a thermal moisture meter.
- 2 Set up plastic containment with a zipper door before anything came out, in case mold was behind the walls.
- 3 Pulled up the carpet and pad to expose the concrete slab.
- 4 Removed the baseboards and lower drywall to open the wall to the studs.
- 5 Lined air movers along the opened wall and around the room to keep air moving in a circle, with dehumidifiers in the middle and an air scrubber filtering dust and airborne particles like mold spores.
