Centennial Hills, Las Vegas · Ceiling Water Damage Repair
Garage ceiling stains by the water heater in Centennial Hills
We got called out for brown water stains on the garage ceiling around the water heater flue in a two-story Centennial Hills home.
We tested the stains with a thermal moisture meter, then opened the wet ceiling drywall to the insulation and framing above. The containment with a zipper door went up around the water heater corner before cutting, so if there was mold above the drywall it stayed in that corner. After drying, the ceiling was repaired and the texture matched around the flue.

What we did
- 1 Checked the ceiling stains with a thermal moisture meter.
- 2 Built plastic containment with a zipper door around the water heater corner, in case there was mold above the ceiling.
- 3 Cut out the wet ceiling drywall and exposed the insulation and framing above.
- 4 Ran an air scrubber inside the containment to filter dust and airborne particles like mold spores, with a dehumidifier in the middle and air movers keeping the air moving in a circle.
