Garage water heater closet dried and rebuilt near Providence
We got called out for wet walls in a garage utility closet that holds the water heater and furnace, at a home near Providence.
The thermal scan picked up the wet closet walls, and the drywall and insulation came out to the framing. Containment went up before the cut, in case there was mold in the cavities, and the closet stayed open until it was dry. Then the walls were rebuilt, textured and painted.

What we did
- 1 Scanned the closet walls with a thermal moisture meter.
- 2 Sealed the closet off with plastic containment before cutting, in case there was mold behind the drywall.
- 3 Removed the wet drywall and insulation to expose the framing.
- 4 Set the air mover to push air around the closet in a circle, with the dehumidifier in the middle and an air scrubber filtering dust and airborne particles like mold spores.
- 5 Hung new drywall, then textured and painted the closet walls.
