Dishwasher leak cleanup in a Providence kitchen
We got called out for a dishwasher leak that had spread water across a Providence kitchen floor and under the base cabinets.
The thermal scan along the toe kicks and floor showed the wet areas, so the kitchen was emptied and boxed and the dishwasher pulled before any flooring came up. Containment went up next, in case there was mold under the cabinets, then the plank flooring came out down to the slab and the toe kicks were cut out. The island countertop sat on temporary wood legs while the bases dried.

Where this job was
This Providence home is near Dorrell Lane and Shaumber Road, about half a mile from Knickerbocker Park. Hualapai Way is also close by, and the 215 Beltway is about half a mile away, which puts most of the northwest valley within a short drive.
What we did
- 1 Scanned the cabinet toe kicks and floor with a thermal moisture meter.
- 2 Emptied the cabinets and drawers, boxed the kitchen contents and pulled the dishwasher out of its opening.
- 3 Set up plastic containment around the kitchen before any flooring or cabinets were opened, in case there was mold underneath.
- 4 Removed the plank flooring down to the slab and cut out the toe kicks to reach the wet areas.
- 5 Set the island countertop on temporary wood supports so the cabinet bases could dry.
- 6 Placed air movers to keep air circling the kitchen across the wet bases and slab, with a dehumidifier in the middle and an air scrubber filtering dust and airborne particles like mold spores.
