We got called out for water damage in a Sun City Anthem bathroom, where the lower wall around the toilet and plumbing had to come open. The work reached into the hallway next to it.
The toilet came out of the bathroom and the hallway floor got plastic protection before any cutting started. A zippered doorway barrier went up next, so if there was mold behind the drywall, the spores would stay out of the rest of the house. With the lower wall open to the framing and plumbing, the drying equipment and ducting went right beside the exposed cavities.

This home is in Sun City Anthem, the 55 and over community in the hills at the south end of Henderson. Anthem Parkway is the main road through the area, and it connects to Eastern Avenue for trips north into the rest of the city.
What we did
- 1 Covered the hallway floor with plastic floor protection.
- 2 Installed a zippered plastic doorway barrier around the work area before anything was opened, in case there was mold behind the wall.
- 3 Removed the toilet from the bathroom work area.
- 4 Opened the lower wall to expose the framing and plumbing.
- 5 Set the drying equipment and ducting beside the open cavities, with air movers pushing air in a circle around the space, a dehumidifier in the middle pulling moisture from the air and an air scrubber filtering dust and airborne particles like mold spores.
