Mold Cleaning in Henderson, NV
Mold cleaning works when the growth is small and sitting on something hard, like tile, glass, sealed countertops, metal or a painted window frame. We clean it, dry it and find out why it was wet. If it's on drywall, insulation or carpet, cleaning won't get it out, and we'll tell you it needs removal instead.
In Henderson homes we see this most around shower enclosures and under sinks where a slow drip wet the cabinet floor. Caught early, a lot of that is a cleaning job. Left for a season, it usually isn't.

Can this just be cleaned?
That's the first thing people want to know. The answer depends on size and on what the mold is growing on.
Is this small enough to just clean?
The EPA draws the line at roughly 10 square feet, about a 3-by-3-foot patch. Under that, on a hard surface like tile or glass, cleaning is often enough. Bigger than that, or growing on anything soft, and it's usually a removal job.
Why won't bleach take care of it?
Bleach can kill mold sitting on tile or glass. Drywall paper, raw wood and carpet backing are porous, and mold grows down into them where bleach can't follow. The stain may fade while the growth stays. On porous material, the fix is cutting it out.
What about the cabinet floor under my sink?
Most cabinet bottoms are particleboard. It swells when wet and soaks water up like a sponge, so mold on it usually means replacing that panel. Wiping it down just hides it for a while.
Do you really need plastic up for a small cleaning?
On most jobs, yes. Scrubbing and wiping put spores in the air the same way cutting does, just fewer of them. A little sheeting and an air scrubber keep a cleaning job from spreading into the next room.
Is the black stuff in my shower grout mold?
Often, yes, and on grout and caulk it's usually a cleaning job. If it's back a few weeks after a good cleaning, the caulk may be letting water get behind the tile. That's worth a moisture reading on the wall next to it.
Will it come back after you clean it?
It will if the surface keeps getting wet. So part of every visit is finding why it was wet: a failed caulk line, condensation on a window, a slow drip under the sink. Fix that and the cleaning holds.
How much does it cost? Will insurance pay?
Mold remediation usually starts at $2,500. The final price depends on how far the growth has spread and how much drywall, insulation or cabinet material has to be cut out. We price the containment too, because that's the part that protects your family's health.
A cleaning job usually costs less than full remediation because nothing gets cut out or rebuilt. The price moves with how much surface is affected and how hard it is to get to. If cleaning turns up damage behind the surface, we stop and show you before the scope changes.

Insurance or self-pay, you decide
Insurance is harder with mold. Many policies exclude it or cap it low, and most will only review it if it came from a covered water event, like a pipe that burst.
We record where the moisture came from so your adjuster can see the cause, not just the growth. Your carrier decides what the policy pays.
Paying yourself? Ask about the self-pay discount. The estimate is free, and you see the price before we start.

How we clean mold off hard surfaces
- 1
Check what it's growing on
We put a moisture meter on the moldy surface and the material around it. If the drywall behind the tile reads wet, it isn't a cleaning job anymore. We'll tell you before we start.
- 2
Set up so it doesn't spread
Plastic sheeting goes up around the work area, and an air scrubber with a HEPA filter runs while we work.
- 3
HEPA-vacuum, then scrub
Loose growth comes off with a HEPA vacuum first. Then the surface gets scrubbed with detergent and water and wiped dry.
- 4
Treat where the label allows
An EPA-registered antimicrobial goes on after cleaning, only on surfaces its label covers.
- 5
Dry it and name the cause
The area dries, we take a final reading, and you get a short note on what caused it and who fixes that.
Cleaning the surface is half the job. Fixing the cause is the other half.
We take moisture readings at the cleaned spot and look at what let the growth start. A bathroom fan that doesn't pull air. A window that sweats every winter morning. Something kept that surface damp.
If growth shows up in the same place later, those notes tell us what we missed instead of leaving everyone guessing.
Cleaning the surface without correcting the moisture source is incomplete, according to the EPA's mold and moisture cleanup guidance .
What a mold cleaning includes
Cleaning is the smaller job. Here's what it covers and what it doesn't.
What we do
- Moisture readings on the moldy surface and the material behind it
- Plastic sheeting and HEPA air scrubbing while we work
- HEPA vacuuming and detergent cleaning of hard surfaces
- Antimicrobial where the product label allows it
- Before and after photos, plus a note on the cause
What we don't do
- Cleaning mold out of drywall, insulation or carpet. Those get removed, which is our remediation service.
- Fixing the leak or the window. That's a plumber or a window installer.
- Painting over stains to hide them.
Mold cleaning questions
Can mold cleaning fix mold on drywall?
Usually not. Drywall is gypsum wrapped in paper, and mold grows into the paper. Cleaning the face leaves growth in the board. Moldy drywall gets cut out and replaced.
Does bleach or vinegar kill mold?
Either one can knock back mold on a hard, non-porous surface. Neither fixes mold inside drywall or wood. For hard surfaces, EPA guidance is detergent and water, then dry it fast. Never mix bleach with ammonia or other cleaners.
How much does professional mold cleaning cost?
Less than removal, because nothing gets cut out or rebuilt. We price it at the free on-site visit once we've seen the size and the surface. If it turns out to need removal, our mold remediation starts at $2,500, and you'd see that number before anything changes.
Does insurance cover mold cleaning?
Rarely on its own. A small patch from shower moisture or window condensation is usually treated as upkeep. If the mold came from a covered water event, your carrier may look at it. They make that decision. We give you photos and readings either way.
When should I stop cleaning it myself?
When it's bigger than about 10 square feet or keeps coming back in the same spot. Also when it smells musty through the wall, or someone at home has asthma or a weakened immune system.

Clear work, clean documentation, no mystery in the middle.
For Mold Cleaning, you should be able to see what we found and what we did about it. That's what the paperwork is for.
When we leave, you should have a plain explanation of the work and paperwork that still makes sense weeks later if an adjuster asks.
Certified standards
IICRC-certified technicians work to the published industry standards instead of judging the job by how it looks.
Claim-ready documentation
Photos and scope notes are collected as the work moves, so you and your adjuster can see what changed and why.
Contained removal
We seal the work area with plastic and run HEPA air scrubbers, so spores stay where we're working instead of drifting into bedrooms.
One accountable plan
The emergency work and the rebuild stay under one plan, so nothing falls into the gap between two contractors.
Local loss experience
In a climate this dry, mold usually points to a hidden leak. We find the water first so the growth doesn't come back after we leave.
What we tell you before work expands
What needs action now
What needs attention today and what can wait. If part of it belongs to a plumber or roofer, we say so.
What should stay closed
We don't open finished walls or ceilings until the readings and the access tell us it's worth it.
What happens next
Stabilize first. Repair decisions come after the building is under control.
