Bubbled drywall tape on a plumbing wall in Whitney
We got called out for drywall tape that had bubbled and lifted across a wall in a Whitney home, next to a bathroom.
Behind the lifted tape, the wall held the drain pipes and supply lines, and we took moisture readings on the framing once it was open. Containment went up before the cut, in case there was mold in the cavity. Drying ran in the bathroom next to the open wall.

The house is near Jimmy Durante Boulevard and Stephanie Street, about half a mile from Whitney Park and around a mile from Stallion Mountain golf course. Boulder Highway is close by, and US 95 is a couple of miles away.
What we did
- 1 Photographed the lifted, bubbled drywall tape on the wall.
- 2 Set up plastic containment with a zipper door before opening the wall, in case there was mold behind it.
- 3 Opened the drywall to expose the studs, drain pipes and supply lines.
- 4 Took moisture readings on the exposed framing.
- 5 Set the air mover in the adjoining bathroom to keep air moving in a circle past the wet surfaces, with the dehumidifier in the middle and an air scrubber filtering dust and airborne particles like mold spores.
