The containment went up first, with a filtered air opening, so mold spores stayed in the work area while the drywall came off. Once the ceiling and wall drywall were down, the insulation behind them showed dark staining, so it came out and the open framing was treated before the new drywall and paint went on.

This Whitney home is close to Boulder Highway and Tropicana Avenue, about half a mile from Whitney Park. Stallion Mountain golf course is about a mile away, and US 95 is about a mile from the house as well, with Henderson just a few minutes south.
What we did
- 1 Built plastic containment with a filtered air opening around the work area so spores would not spread to the rest of the house.
- 2 Removed the ceiling drywall and stained insulation down to the framing.
- 3 Stripped the wall to the studs and sheathing and treated the open framing.
- 4 Hung, taped and finished new drywall on the wall and ceiling.
- 5 Painted the room once the drywall work was done.
