Ceiling opened and dried under a tile roof in River Mountain
We got called out for a wet ceiling near a return air vent in a River Mountain house. Part of the tile roof above it was under plastic sheeting beside the rooftop AC units.
Opening the ceiling near the return air vent exposed the attic framing and insulation, and the room below was set up for drying. The floor was covered with protective paper and the room sealed with plastic before the cut, in case there was mold above the drywall.

Where this job was
The house is between Racetrack Road and Boulder Highway on the east side of Henderson. Heritage Park and Saguaro Park are both about half a mile away, College Drive is close by, and I-11 is a couple of miles from the house.
What we did
- 1 Photographed the plastic sheeting laid over the roof section beside the rooftop AC units.
- 2 Covered the floor with protective paper.
- 3 Set up plastic containment around the room before opening the ceiling, in case mold was above it.
- 4 Opened the ceiling drywall near the return air vent to expose the attic framing and insulation.
- 5 Arranged the air movers to keep air moving in a loop around the room, with the dehumidifier in the middle taking moisture out and an air scrubber filtering dust and airborne particles like mold spores.
