Loose laundry ceiling and water heater wall in east Paradise
We got called out for a laundry room ceiling that had come loose in an east Paradise home, along with the wall behind the water heater.
Containment went up before the loose ceiling drywall came down, in case there was mold above it. With the ceiling pulled, we cut an opening in the wall behind the water heater to expose the pipes, then set the drying equipment on the tile floor.

This Paradise home is near Flamingo Road and Mountain Vista Street on the east side of the valley, about a mile from Maslow Park and Stallion Mountain golf course. Boulder Highway is close by, and US 95 is only about half a mile away.
What we did
- 1 Set up plastic containment around the laundry area before anything came down, in case there was mold above the ceiling.
- 2 Pulled down the loose ceiling drywall in the laundry area.
- 3 Cut an opening in the wall behind the water heater to expose the pipes.
- 4 Set the dehumidifier in the middle of the tile floor, with air movers pushing air around the room in a circle and an air scrubber filtering dust and airborne particles like mold spores.
