Kitchen sink base opened and dried in Northwest Las Vegas
We got called out for a wet kitchen around the sink base in a two-story home in Northwest Las Vegas.
We zipped the kitchen off from the dining area first, so if there was mold behind the cabinets, the spores would stay out of the living space. The thermal scan inside the sink base and nearby cabinets showed the wet area, so the base cabinets and toe kicks came out and the lower drywall was cut to the studs.

What we did
- 1 Put up plastic containment with zipper doors between the kitchen and dining area, in case there was mold behind the cabinets.
- 2 Scanned the sink base and nearby cabinets with a thermal moisture meter.
- 3 Removed the base cabinets and toe kicks.
- 4 Cut out the lower drywall to open the wall to the studs.
- 5 Set air movers on the kitchen floor and under the counters so the air circled the room, with a dehumidifier in the middle and an air scrubber filtering dust and airborne particles like mold spores.
