Walk-in closet and laundry wall drying in Skye Canyon
We got called out for water at the base of the walls in a walk-in closet and laundry area of a Skye Canyon home.
The thermal scan at the closet baseboards showed the wet sections, and the hanging clothes and shelves were wrapped in plastic before anything came out. Containment went up next, in case there was mold behind the drywall, and the lower walls were opened to the studs and sheathing.

This Skye Canyon home is close to Skye Canyon Park Drive and Skye Village Road, about half a mile from Star Light Park. Grand Canyon Drive is also nearby, and US 95 is about half a mile away for trips into the rest of the valley.
What we did
- 1 Scanned the closet baseboards with a thermal moisture meter.
- 2 Wrapped the hanging clothes and shelves in plastic to keep them clean and dry.
- 3 Set up plastic containment with a zipper door before opening the walls, in case mold was behind the drywall.
- 4 Pulled the baseboards and cut out the lower drywall to expose the studs and sheathing.
- 5 Set air movers around the closet to keep air moving in a circle, with a dehumidifier in the middle and an air scrubber filtering dust and airborne particles like mold spores.
