We got called out for water in a Sunridge Heights bathroom in MacDonald Ranch that had reached the carpeted rooms next to it.
Once the vanity was out, the thermal meter showed wet readings on the walls and floor where it had stood, so the vinyl came up to the subfloor and the wall was opened to the drain line and framing. Containment went up before the vanity came out, in case there was mold behind it. Drying also ran on the carpet in the room next door.

The house sits between Sunridge Heights Parkway and Eastern Avenue, about half a mile from Anthem Hills Park. Horizon Crest Park is about a mile out, Rio Secco Golf Club is a little farther, and the 215 Beltway is a couple of miles away.
What we did
- 1 Set up plastic containment with a zipper door before the vanity came out, in case there was mold behind it.
- 2 Removed the vanity and checked the walls and floor where it had been with a thermal moisture meter.
- 3 Tore out the bathroom vinyl flooring down to the subfloor.
- 4 Cut the drywall open to expose the drain line and framing behind it.
- 5 Set an air mover and dehumidifier on the carpet in the next room, with the air aimed to swirl around the room, the dehumidifier in the center and an air scrubber filtering dust and airborne particles like mold spores.
