Wet lower walls in a tiled and carpeted room in the Foothills
We got called out for wet lower drywall in a tiled room and the carpeted room next to it in a Foothills home.
The thermal reading before demo showed the wet walls in both rooms, and cutting the lower drywall exposed stained studs, bottom plates and wiring. The doorway was sealed with containment and a zipper door before any cutting, in case there was mold behind the drywall.

The house is a few blocks from Hayley Hendricks Park, with Heritage Park about a mile away. Lake Mead Parkway and Center Street are the closest main roads, each roughly a mile out, and Sunset Road runs close by too.
What we did
- 1 Checked the walls and floor with a thermal moisture meter.
- 2 Built plastic containment with a zipper door at the doorway before any demo, so any mold spores behind the drywall stayed in the work area.
- 3 Cut out the lower drywall along the base of the walls to expose the studs, bottom plates and wiring.
- 4 Placed air movers at the opened wall and around the room to keep air moving in a circle, with a dehumidifier in the middle and an air scrubber filtering dust and airborne particles like mold spores.
