Walk-in closet water damage and rebuild in Cadence
We got called out for water in a bedroom and walk-in closet in a Cadence home, with a water line showing on the closet paint.
The thermal scan showed moisture along the water line on the closet paint, and once the lower drywall was off, the insulation in the cavities was soaked. Containment went up before any carpet or drywall came out, in case there was mold in the walls. The closet was then closed up with new drywall and texture, and the shelf and rod went back in.

Where this job was
This Cadence home is just off Lake Mead Parkway, about half a mile from Hayley Hendricks Park. Sunset Road and Center Street are the other main roads close by, and the Tuscany Recreation Center is roughly a mile away in the neighboring community.
What we did
- 1 Scanned the closet walls with a thermal moisture meter where a water line showed on the paint.
- 2 Set up plastic containment with a zipper door around the closet before demo, in case mold was behind the drywall.
- 3 Pulled the wet carpet and cut the lower drywall out to expose the framing.
- 4 Removed the soaked insulation from the wall cavities and bagged it with the debris.
- 5 Hung new drywall in the closet, textured it and put the shelf and rod back up.
