Wet bathroom wall opened and dried in Enterprise

We got called out for wet, broken drywall along the base of a bathroom wall in an Enterprise home near Mountains Edge.

We checked the wall above the broken drywall with an imaging moisture meter, and the same wall run continued into the adjoining room. Containment went up before any cutting, in case there was mold behind the drywall, then both sides came open to the studs and bottom plate. The floor in the next room was covered with plastic before the drying equipment went in.

What we did

  1. 1 Checked the bathroom wall above the damaged drywall with an imaging moisture meter.
  2. 2 Set up plastic containment before cutting, in case there was mold behind the drywall.
  3. 3 Cut away the lower drywall beside the toilet to expose the studs and bottom plate.
  4. 4 Opened the lower wall in the adjoining room along the same run.
  5. 5 Protected the adjoining room floor with plastic and set the dehumidifier in the middle of that room, with air movers keeping air moving in a circle and an air scrubber filtering dust and airborne particles like mold spores.
